How to Freeze Fruit Juice

It is very easy to freeze fruit juices, though you will need to take some precautions to prevent the juice from spoiling. You can freeze the fruit juice either in its original packaging, providing it isn’t glass, or you can decant it into ice cube trays for smaller portions.

Both methods are listed below so follow these steps for the best frozen fruit juice:

How to Freeze Fruit Juice In Cartons

If you have bought cartons of fruit juice then you shouldn’t just throw them into the freezer. Instead, there are a few preventative steps you’ll want to follow:

  1. Choose Juice
Choose which carton of juice you want to freeze. Either cardboard or plastic cartons will work well, but glass will not.
  2. Remove the Lid
Take the lid off of the carton.
  3. Place the Carton in the Freezer
Now place the unopened carton into the freezer and ensure that it is standing upright to prevent any spillages.
  4. Freeze
Leave the unopened carton in the freezer for at least 24 hours. This will allow the juice to expand somewhat without the lid on.
  5. Replace Lid and Freeze
After 24 hours, you can then replace the lid and store the carton of now frozen juice in the freezer.

How to Freeze Fruit Juice Into Ice Cubes

If you only ever need a small portion of juice to sweeten sauces or to make icing then this is the approach to take:

  1. Choose Juice
Choose the type of juice you want to freeze. Most fruit juices will freeze well including orange juice, pineapple and mango.
  2. Fill the Tray
Pour your juice into the ice cube tray, filling each one up as much as possible.
  3. Place the Tray in the Freezer
Now place the filled ice cube tray into the freezer and leave. You can leave them in the tray or decant them into bags.
  4. Bag Up
If you choose to, you can now pop out the ice cubes and place them into the freezer bags.
  5. Keep Frozen
Place the bags of frozen fruit juice cubes back into the freezer and keep them for 8 to 12 months.
